Modern Apprenticeships in Hospitality
SKYCITY Auckland offers Modern Apprenticeships in Hospitality through the Hospitality Standards Institute (HSI). They are there to help you gain a qualification while you earn, meaning you spend less time in the classroom and more time gaining real world experience. You'll attend a short training course every six months and HSI will help pay for your training. What's best is you'll have your own HSI coordinator to help keep you on track and provide you with guidance and assistance along the way. A Modern Apprenticeship leads to National Qualifications at Level 3 and 4.
Front of House
We offer a two to three year paid Apprenticeship in Food and Beverage, working towards two National Certificates at Level 3 and 4.
Your apprenticeship will give you the opportunity to gain work experience in a variety of restaurants and bars in the SKYCITY complex. You will be on a rotation between the restaurants and bars so every day will be different, as each has their own atmosphere and style.
Keep earning while you're learning when you attend block courses at the Manukau Institute of Technology. These courses allow you to have a sole focus on the theory involved with your Apprenticeship.
Chef Apprenticeships
With 12 restaurants, cafes and catering facilities within SKYCITY, a Chef's Apprenticeship offers you work experience like no other. You'll work in a variety of kitchens, each with a different atmosphere, and gain a tertiary qualification while you have fun and make lifelong friendships.
The Apprenticeship programme is set out over three years. It is designed to set you up for a successful career as a chef by combining practical and theory elements throughout. Best of all, you will graduate with an internationally recognised qualification in Professional Cookery.
