Tell us a bit about what your job entails: Controlling and improving Production Lines in a Factory that produces Plastic Components. I am given specific Improvement Projects such as redesigning tooling to make tool-bit changes faster.
Describe a typical day at work: I plan my own time and daily schedule in order to complete my projects and usually have to give presentations by a certain deadline. Each day I do what I need to meet the deadline. I spend nearly all of my day at a computer, and have to think hard and solve my own problems. I often go out to the factory to observe, take measurements or for inspiration and to think. I also quite often attend training sessions provided by the company.
What inspired you to work in this field? I don’t know. It’s what I do. If I stop liking it, I’ll try something else.
Qualifications and previous experience that got you the job: BE (Hons) - Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) from University of Canterbury

What are the mundane aspects of the job? Data Management, Keeping the computer systems updated
What sort of job could you go to from here? Short-term a more advanced Production Engineer. Long-Term: management either of a factory or any sort of management.
