Success Stories: Sarah Keller

Video of Sarah Keller discussing workchoice day and how it has found her a career in advertising.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

What do you want to be when you grow up?

You’re probably sick of hearing the question because it’s not an easy one to answer. There are so many career choices and so many answers to this question – and none of them are “right”.

But whether or not you know the answer, you’re bound to have lots of other questions stemming from this central question. Can I make my passion my career? What does a CEO/marketer/accountant actually do? What is a typical day for them? How did they get their job? What training is involved? Do they like their job?

Workchoice Day gives Year 12 students the opportunity to see a range of jobs in an industry and ask these questions of the people who actually do the jobs. It lets you go into the actual environments people work in and get an insight into their daily life. 126,000 students have been on Workchoice Day and almost all of them learnt something on the day. Some have realised that they want this job or that job and others have realised that their dream job isn’t for them. Some have seen there is way more to a particular company than they ever knew and others have discovered how to make their dream a reality. Whatever the story, all have gone away excited and armed with information. It’s the first step on the career ladder and will give you information to help you make the next step and the one after that.
